Exotic Europe Screening

The European Commission is hosting a screening of a selection of specially restored archive footage from the Cinema Museum’s collection, portraying Europe before the First World War, accompanied by specially commissioned responses directed by students of the London Film School.

Burt Kwouk in Conversation

Most famous for playing Cato, Inspector Clouseau’s energetic manservant in the Pink Panther films, the legendary Burt Kwouk will be in conversation with the film historian Barry Littlechild. During his long and varied career, Burt has appeared in three separate James Bond films and many UK television productions, most recently Last of the Summer Wine.

A Conversation with Angela Allen

Join British film industry treasure, and honorary Member of the Guild of British Camera technicians, Angela Allen MBE, in conversation with film historian Tony Sloman. Angela worked on hundreds of films for over 50 years and trained as a script supervisor (formerly known as Continuity Girl) at the Korda Studios, working on The Third Man.

Clapperboard: Graham Murray

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, film historian Graham Murray devised, wrote and compiled over 500 episodes of Granada Television’s legendary weekly programme Clapperboard. Presented by Chris Kelly, the series covered all aspects of filmmaking and cinema history. Graham will talk about the making of the programme and present a 45-minute compilation of the show’s highlights.

Home Movie Day 2010

The Cinema Museum is proud once again to be the London host for the annual Home Movie Day, at which the public can bring their home movies (e.g. on super 8, 8mm, 9.5mm or 16mm) for inspection by a trained archivist.

Award-winning costume designer, Julie Harris, talks to BFI fiction curator Jo Botting about a glittering career that began in 1947 at Gainsborough Films and continued until her retirement in 1991. Julie worked on over seventy films and won an Oscar for Darling and a BAFTA for The Wrong Box.

Chaplin’s London in Hollywood

Film historian David Trigg marks this event with a screening of The Immigrant, and shows, with extracts from his other films, how in Hollywood Chaplin searched for suitable locations and built sets based on his South London childhood.
