Sat 2 Jul 2022 @ 12:00 · Events

Carry On Up the Cinema MuseumIn a full day of live shows and laughter in celebration of the Carry On series, the official Carry On historian Robert Ross presents trailers, rare clips, special guests and a few surprises from this beloved comedy franchise.

Oh, What a Carry On!
A brief history of the Carry Ons… with a difference.
During the pandemic lockdown of 2020, Robert and Gemma Ross presented regular live, on-line chats about favourite comedians and comedy series. Over the last few months, Robert and Gemma have been over-whelmed by affection comments about these broadcasts and now, by popular, proudly present a new show. Live and in the flesh!

Gemma will be in conversation with Robert about the stars and success of the Carry Ons, with obscure filmed material from the Comedy Cottage archives, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photos, and a spontaneous question and audience session. So have your questions ready.

Carry On Teacher
Carry On Teacher posterAs the poster screamed, “Nothing but Nothing is Funnier and Spicier than… Carry On Teacher” and as school is out for summer… and in celebration of the hols, Robert is joined by those cheeky Maudlin Street Secondary Modern School saboteurs from Carry On Teacher, Paul Cole and Larry Dann, to chat about the making of the film, the larks of attending the Italia Conti School of Drama, and the diverse work they have done since: from making frothy monsters for Doctor Who to an arresting stint on The Bill.

Carry On Matron
You weren’t expecting this! Yes, to celebrate fifty years since the first release of Carry On Matron to cinemas across Britain, Robert will host a panel of Carry On team members from this beloved film. The 23rd in the long-running series and the fourth with a full-on medical storyline, Carry On Matron was on general release for the summer of 1972. We are thrilled to welcome to the Museum of Cinema: Valerie Leon and Madeline Smith.

Throughout the day there will be ample opportunity to purchase signed photographs and mingle with our special guests. There may be a surprise or two, the bar will be well-stocked, and the fun is guaranteed. So Carry On, you know it makes sense.

Doors open at 11.00, for a 12.00 start. Event ends at 18.00.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
