French Sundaes: La Famille Bélier (2014)

Sun 14 Jul 2019 @ 14:30 · Events

La Famille Bélier posterMaking a fuss – four French films that dared to be different. A talk illustrated with clips and a chance to see a feature film chosen to inspire.

We bring the season to a joyous end with La Famille Bélier (2014), Eric Lartigue’s gentle comedy about French rural life for a family of profoundly deaf farmers. It caused controversy over its choice of actors and content, and we will look at other films that challenge the notion of the happy family.

Each film is accompanied by an introductory illustrated talk by Jon Davies, Tutor in French Cinema at Morley College.

Doors open at 13.30, for a 14.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
