South Social meets Finland

Fri 12 May 2017 @ 19:00 · Events

The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli MakiDiversity is Finnish. Diversity in sport, gender, media expectations, relationship. Such a small country but so many things in it.

The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Maki (2016) by Juho Kuosmanen was the winner of Un Certain Regard at Cannes Film Festival last year. It’s summer 1962, Olli Mäki is a famous featherweight boxer. Inside the ring, it’s Finland vs. the USA, but outside, boxing and romance become unlikely adversaries, vying for Olli’s attention. Olli falls head over heels for Raija.

Enjoy live music with cool Finnish musician Manna Mariam. Superfood will be provided by the Finnish church.
