Transculture at the Cinema Museum / Strella: A Woman’s Way (Greece, 2009)

Fri 3 May 2013 @ 19:30 · Events

Strella: A Woman's Way stillThis new regular event on the first Friday of each month is a dedicated space for the celebration of all aspects of Transculture. Centred around a piece of Trans Cinema, the evening is intended to be an open situation where Trans, Intersex, Gender Queer, and others and allies can meet in a supportive and stimulating environment. Although its emphasis is arts and entertainment, it is expected that the evening will be very much what the audience makes it. This will be a time to talk, to meet, to enjoy. The Cinema Museum and the organisers look forward to seeing you there.

The first half of the evening will consist of performance by various Trans performers, including CN Lester and other acts to be announced, with the second half being the screening of a recent piece of Trans Cinema.

For this first event, the screening will be Strella: A Woman’s Way, an award-winning film about the relationship between an older man released from prison and a younger trans woman. Made in Greece by director Panos H. Koutros, it stars Mina Orfanou and Yiannis Kokiasmenos. Panos would have loved to have joined us for the screening but is busy on his next project – however, he wishes us the very best of luck for Transculture at The Cinema Museum.
