Relaxed Screening Project

September 2011 · Wellbeing

We would like to help people connect, be active, take notice and learn through The Cinema Museum. We believe that the experience of cinema should be available to all – that includes those who need visual and audio material to be presented to them differently and who perhaps need greater freedom of movement and expression than is sometimes tolerated at public screenings. We can offer screenings that are specifically designed to make different groups feel more relaxed about the experience of cinema; we are DDA compliant and we are a flexible space that can accommodate specialised seating. We have the capacity to work with you to create audience specific screenings and we are very keen to do so. If you are interested in talking to us about jointly organising an event for any of the below groups please get in touch:

  • Families with young children and pushchairs and prams and wheelchairs
  • Those on the Autistic/Aspergers spectrum
  • Those with age related conditions

How it Works

  • You contact us, tell us the needs of your group and we send you a Relaxed Screening Project Pack with an instruction sheet that allows you to tell us what you want
  • If you want to proceed you return the enclosed instruction sheet, which we then assess
  • If we can help we will then plan how to work together to implement your instructions
  • We agree a screening plan and a date; we provide the space and the volunteers to run the screening side of the event. You provide the attendees and any required professional carers
