The Cinema Museum, London

Local Free Tickets Project

September 2011 · Wellbeing · Featured Article

We would like to help local people to embrace the 5 ways to wellbeing. The Cinema museum believes that the experience of cinema should be available to all. We think that local facilities and charities that are supported by the local council via reduced council tax should add to the social capital of the borough. We also think that neighbours should look after each other and form meaningful supportive relationships. As such we would like to make it easier for our neighbours to come and visit us – at the same time as engaging in the 5 ways to wellbeing (Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Give).

How it Works

  • We ask people who live in Lambeth and Southwark to register as ‘local fans’ of the museum
  • We send them details of events at the museum
  • We assess the number of free seats available 24 hours prior to the event
  • If seats are available at that time we will email ‘local fans’ inviting them to apply for up to 2 free tickets per local resident
  • If we are full then we will offer a limited number of ‘restricted view’ seats to those on our ‘local fans’ data base
