Open Weekend 2009

Sat 27 Jun - Sun 28 Jun 2009 · Events

Over 300 visitors came through our doors over the Open Weekend of 27-28 June 2009, enjoying guided tours with Anna Odrich and illustrated talks by David Cleveland, Hazel Pethig and Jenny Hammerton.

The Open Weekend featured an exhibition ‘Chaplin vs Cnidoblasts’, with new sculptures by Anna Odrich and Cnidoblasts that reconfigured artefacts from the Museum’s collection and explored the mechanics and gestures of silent comedy.

Anna Odrich and George Parnell worked against the clock to get this 20-foot-high outline figure of Charlie Chaplin’s Tramp character finished in time.

The Cinema was packed with people as Tom Bell took the piano and mellatron to deliver a fantastic score to accompany a programme of Chaplin short films.
