Women and Cocaine presents Song of Songs (1933)

Fri 10 Nov 2023 @ 19:30 · Events

Song of Songs One of the world’s great love stories comes to the star who can make it live.

Dietrich captivates as Lily, a naive German peasant girl who moves to Berlin after the death of her father, in order to live with her strict aunt. By day, Lily works in her aunt’s bookstore, and by night, she sneaks across the street to model for Richard, a sculptor with whom she falls in love. A patron of Richard’s, Baron von Merzbach, develops an interest in Lily that may not be with the best of intentions.

Song of Songs gives insight into Dietrich’s acting range and features striking imagery from one of the greatest black and white cinematographers, Victor Milner.

The film will be preceded by a short introduction and followed by a raffle!
