The Kennington Bioscope is a regular cinema event featuring live accompaniment to silent films that takes place at the Cinema Museum.

Hot food will be available during the early part of the evening.

Heart o’ the HillsHeart o’ the Hills (USA 1919). Produced by and starring Mary Pickford. Directed by Joseph De Grasse and Sidney Franklin, written by Bernard McConville and based on the novel by John Fox, Jr.

Family tensions in the Kentucky hills are inflamed by an outsider’s dishonest scheme to exploit the area for its coal.

As well as showing Heart o’ the Hills on 35mm we will be screening two Mary Pickford shorts, White Roses (1910) directed by Frank Powell and The Narrow Road (1912) directed by D. W. Griffith on 16mm.

Live piano accompaniment. Colin Sell will be playing for the main feature, and John Sweeney for the shorts.

Silent film with intertitles which may be suitable for the deaf and hard of hearing.
