Sappho’s Cinema & Lesflicks presents The Duke of Burgundy (2014) plus Talk/Q&A with Chiara D’Anna

Sun 5 Jun 2022 @ 15:30 · Events

The Duke of Burgundy Join Sappho’s Cinema & Lesflicks for an exclusive screening and Q&A with the film’s star, Chiara D’Anna!

A mesmerising portrayal of human relationships, this stimulating, stylish and sensual story of domination and co-dependency centres female sexuality with an all female cast. The Duke of Burgundy is the most tender love story you’ll see in which a woman forcefully urinates in her lover’s mouth.

Two entomologists and lovers, Cynthia and Evelyn, enact an elaborate sadomasochistic fantasy as mistress and maid. But as their ritual of domination and submission begins to turn stale, Cynthia yearns for something more conventional, while Evelyn tries to push their taboos even further.

Sappho’s Cinema is a celebration of our herstory on film, and aims to show true stories that offer authentic and diverse representation.
