Lucrecia Martel’s brilliant debut feature is a gripping dissection of class decadence and dysfunctional family life set in her home province of Salta, in north-western Argentina. Superbly acted, especially by Graciela Borges and Mercedes Morán, the film is memorably imbued with eerie menace.

The film will be introduced by Adam Feinstein.
