Screening of if…. (1968)

Sat 9 Jun 2018 @ 19:30 · Events

if....Lindsay Anderson’s if…. (1968) is regarded as one of the best British films of all time. This special screening will be followed by a Q&A with actor and author David Wood and film critic George Perry.

David Wood co-starred as one of three rebel schoolboys in a public school. His character, Johnny, along with Mick (Malcolm McDowell) and Wallace (Richard Warwick), led the revolution against authority, which was regarded by many as a metaphor for the social and political situation in the UK.

Filming if.... book coverDavid’s new book, Filming if…., contains his experience of taking part in the film, the personalities involved, the day-to-day fun and challenges, and the reception given to the film, including winning the Palme d’Or at Cannes. The memoir also reflects the brilliance of the idiosyncratic director, Lindsay Anderson, and his team. This information is augmented by an extra section by George Perry describing if…. in the context of its importance in the history of British film.

Copies of Filming if…. will be available for purchase and signing.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
