REEL Bangladesh presents the documentary film Mass E Bhat (2014) with Q&A

Wed 16 Dec 2015 @ 19:00 · Events

Mass E BhatREEL Bangladesh features a screening of the documentary film Mass E Bhat (2014), a portrayal of a developing country through the eyes of its children. The screening will be followed by an engaging discussion and director Q&A surrounding the topic of ‘film as a tool for social change’.

Mass E BhatThe film tells the story of one young man’s struggle to grow up and achieve his goals in modern Bangladesh. As we follow the 20 year old Nasir, now a social worker in the slums, he reflects on his life, from childhood in a rural village and his family’s migration to the city, through his early years working in the rubbish dumps and sweatshops, and finally how he has achieved his dream of an education and respect within his community. As Nasir recounts his life, we meet a series of children, parents and employers, who mirror his past but are all real in the country’s present.

Mass E Bhat‘s original score has been composed by John Pandit, Louis Beckett and Rowan Perkins.

The event brings together non-profit documentary makers and Mass E Bhat Directors the Rainbow Collective, along with digital culture magazine Bizarre Culture to provide an evening of cultural insight, inspiring discussion and meaningful mingling.”

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.00 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licenced cafe/bar.
