Mansel Stimpson book launch – No Drum To Beat

October 2014 · News

No Drum To Beat, book launch, is at the Cinema Museum, Kennington, at 7.30 pm on Friday, 24th October 2014.

30 years ago longstanding film critic Mansel Stimpson wrote an account of his life and coming out as gay. The book is in the same form in which it was written 30 years ago and it is a contemporary record of the author’s remarkably late and totally unexpected but welcome realisation that he was gay leading into an account of gay life in London between 1978 and 1981. It is both a memoir and a piece of social history.
