The Cinema Museum, London

Home Movie Day + “So You’re a Publicist – What Do You Do?”

Sat 15 Oct 2011 @ 11:00 · Events

The Cinema Museum is proud once again to be the London host for the annual Home Movie Day, to which the public can bring their home movies (e.g. on super8, 8mm, 9.5mm or 16mm) for inspection by a trained archivist, and get advice on how to store the films at home to help prevent deterioration and where to get the films digitised. There will be projectionists on hand to project films, allowing people the chance to relive their unique family memories.

You don’t have to have home movies to attend, and there are special events, tea and cake, and prizes to be won!

“So you’re a Publicist – what do you do?”

Sophia Loren and Ralph Cooper on location

This year Home Movie Day will feature a special presentation, a fascinating assembly of the work of film publicist Ralph Cooper (Sammy Going South, Mr Moses, The Assassination Bureau, The Bliss of Mrs Blossom and Sands of the Kalahari) during many months on location during the 1950s-1970s, illustrated by cine footage sent home, and enriched with stills & anecdotes from his daughters Wendy Harrison and Viv Lever.
