The Plaza, Stockport

The Plaza Super Cinema and Variety Theatre is a unique Grade II Listed building that has survived almost intact, in its original use, making it a rare example of this building type in the north of England. It is operated by a Charitable Trust with the specific intention of restoring it to its former glory.

The Deutsche Kinemathek officially opened in February 1963. Its founding director, Gerhard Lamprecht, over the decades had meticulously put together an extensive collection of films, documents and equipment.
