Exhibitions

We have lent items to a number of exhibitions and below are pictures of a few.

Part of the exhibition by the St. Albans Museum From Alpha To Odeon, covering film activity in the town. Alpha Films, which was based there early in the 20th century, was the company of Arthur Melbourne-Cooper, an important pioneer filmmaker. We contributed this category board and other items, including this seating indicator (left) from the Capitol Aberdeen and this usher's uniform from our James F. Donald (Aberdeen Cinemas) collection.

In 1989 we were asked by Ealing Council to mount an exhibition in Ealing Town Hall to mark the anniversary of Ealing Studios (above, below and left).
Martin Humphries, Terry Smith and Ronald Grant at a small Cinema Museum exhibition in the Ritzy Cinema, Brixton. Ronald and Martin are wearing the lightweight summer uniform from the Rex Cinema, Haslemere. Terry is wearing a uniform from the Donald's Cinema circuit Aberdeen and a hat from the Picture House, Forres, Scotland.

In 1998, on the 100th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin's first stay in the Lambeth Workhouse, we created an exhibition about the Workhouse, Chaplin and his time in Lambeth. Here film critic and author of a fine Chaplin book, David Robinson, opens the exhibition.

The exhibition in the Gate lodge of the former Workhouse.

Our exhibition about silent film actors in the foyer of Teatro Cinema Verdi during Le Giornate del Cinema Muto, the world renowned silent film festival in Pordenone, northern Italy.

This fine stylized 1950s cinema has tragically been demolished since.
