George GershwinThe vibrant music of George Gershwin is interwoven with his fascinating life story from birth in the colourful, teeming New York of 1898 to his tragically early death in 1937.

JoViv McLeanin Viv McLean, piano, and Susan Porrett, narrator, for an intriguing, eclectic mix of Gershwin’s music from the much-loved ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, ‘I Got Rhythm Variations’ and ‘Swanee’ to the rarely-played, classical Preludes – plus a chance to explore the Cinema Museum before the concert.

George Gershwin spent the final year of his life living and working in Hollywood, where he composed the music for the film Shall We Dance (1937), starring Fred Astaire and Gingers Rogers
