Cheap Cuts Documentary Film Festival

Fri 5 May - Sun 7 May 2017 · Events

Famous in AhmedabadCheap Cuts is an emerging festival dedicated to showcasing the best of British and international short documentary talent. We believe in content over form and are interested in the stories filmmakers have to tell, not the budget or equipment used to do so. Our aim is to create an alternative festival for filmmakers and audiences on a budget. Film can be an extremely inaccessible medium and financially the film industry is one of the most unforgiving around. We believe that filmmaking should be inclusive, not exclusive. Therefore our screenings are free of charge.

Lingua AbsentiaWith a successful first year of sold out screenings and workshops we are now launching a three-day event full of short documentaries from all over the world, discussion panels on current social issues and practical workshops. Our strengths lie in the variety of our programme, which promotes different approaches to documentary creation including experimental, observational and animation. We aim to choose documentaries that are striving to be creative and unique in their storytelling.
