South Social Meets India

Sun 3 Jul 2016 @ 18:00 · Events

The LunchboxSouth Social film festival is proud to present a series of special events, ‘South Social Meets the World’. Dedicated to a different country every month, they will explore cultural diversity using art cinema, world music and the culture of food.

This month, South Social Meets the World will be dedicated to India, showing The Lunchbox (2014) by the famous Indian director Ritesh Batra. The award-winning film is set in Mumbai and revolves around a mistaken delivery by the Dabbawalas (lunchbox service), which leads to a liaison between a widower, Saajan, and an unhappy housewife, Ila, as they start exchanging notes through the daily lunchbox.

The screening will be followed by a live Indian fusion band and catered Indian cuisine.
