The Dark Corner (1946) concerns a private eye who has moved to New York to start over after having been framed for a crime in San Francisco. But who is the mysterious man in the white suit who is tailing him? Lucille Ball, still several years before I Love Lucy fame, is the detective’s secretary who tries to save him from a sordid tale of deceit and murder.

The feature will be introduced by Kulraj Phullar who is currently completing his PhD on Good Girls and Goodness in Classic Hollywood Film Noir at King’s College London.

The first half of the programme will comprise a selection of short cinematic treats from 1946, courtesy The Dave Locke Archive.
