Wed 10 Feb 2016 @ 19:30 · Events

ShoesThe Kennington Bioscope is a regular cinema event featuring live accompaniment to silent films that takes place at the Cinema Museum.

The main feature is Shoes (1916), directed by Lois Weber and starring Mary MacLaren. This screening is courtesy of EYE Film Institute Netherlands.

Mary MacLaren stars as Eva Meyer, the only wage earner in an impoverished family, who is unable to afford a new pair of shoes. Eventually she is forced to consider the unwanted attentions of a local lothario.

Silent Women: Pioneers of CinemaThe Kennington Bioscope would like to introduce you to the recently published book Silent Women: Pioneers of Cinema from Aurora Metro Books.

Melody Bridges and Cheryl Robson will be present to speak about the research behind their newly released book, which showcases the women working behind the camera during the silent film era.

As well as the main feature screening of Shoes, we will also be showing films by Alice Guy and Anita Loos, as well as other yet to be announced shorts.

We hope you can come along and celebrate the release of this exciting new book, and see some great films too!
