The VITO Project presents The Crying Game (1992)

The Crying GameReShape and the Cinema Museum present the third screening of the VITO Project, a series of free monthly screenings bringing generations of LGBTs together to provide an alternative space to mix, watch films and share ideas.

The Crying Game (1992), a British drama film written and directed by Neil Jordan, explores themes of race, gender, nationality, and sexuality against the backdrop of the Irish Troubles. The film was released to critical acclaim and went on to be nominated for six Academy Awards with writer-director Jordan eventually winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The film will be introduced by Michelle Ross, co-founder of CliniQ, and Seán McGovern, educator and ACT UP activist, representing the older and younger generation. Neil Bartlett, queer author and director, will compere.The film will be followed by an open discussion.

The project is endorsed by BFI Flare, 56 Dean St, QX Magazine, Gay’s the Word, ACT UP London, Gay Mates and Positively UK.

Doors open at 18.30 for a 19.30 start.
