The Cinema Museum, London

Screening of The Celluloid Closet (1995)

Wed 21 Jan 2015 @ 19:45 · Events

Ben-HurReShape and the Cinema Museum are launching the VITO Project, a series of free monthly screenings bringing generations of LGBTs together to provide an alternative space to mix, watch films and share ideas.

Our first film will be The Celluloid Closet (1995), a documentary inspired by Vito Russo’s seminal book, exploring the changing face of queer representation in mainstream cinema from the stereotypes of the 1920s to the positive changes of the 1990s. We will be screening a 35mm print.

The film will be introduced by Neil Bartlett, queer author and director, and Pat Cash, writer and host of Let’s Talk About Gay Sex & Drugs, representing the older and the younger generations, and will be followed by open discussion.

Doors open at 18.30 for a 19.45 start.
