Blinking Buzzards – 23rd January 2016

Sat 23 Jan 2016 @ 16:00 · Events

Spite MarriageThe UK Buster Keaton Society. Quarterly meeting of the society dedicated to the appreciation of the silent comedian.

This is the 20th anniversary meeting, and the highlight will be Buster’s last silent feature Spite Marriage (1929). Buster plays Elmer, who works in a dry cleaners, and is an ardent fan of actress Trilby Drew (Dorothy Sebastian). He is given the chance to marry Trilby, without realizing is that he is being used to make the actress’ old flame jealous. Buster hoped that this would be a sound picture, but MGM wouldn’t allow it, and for a second time he lost the directing credit to Edward Sedgwick.

The meeting runs from 4pm to 7pm.
