70 Years of Film Review

Wed 14 Oct 2015 @ 19:30 · Events

Film ReviewFounded in 1944 by F Maurice Speed, the Film Review annual was a groundbreaking movie almanac stuffed with photographs, reviews and articles. The book has long been regarded as the essential reference for movie enthusiasts and industry professionals.

Join us for the launch of the 70th edition of Film Review, which will sadly be the last in the series. This special collectors’ edition is published by Signum Books and boasts a decorative hardback case beneath its dustjacket. Inside are a number of articles looking back on the annual’s long history, along with all the regular reviews and features.

The evening will include an illustrated presentation on the history of Film Review by contributor Jonathan Rigby, followed by a discussion/Q&A with co-editor Mansel Stimpson and executive editor James Cameron-Wilson. Publisher Marcus Hearn will also be present, to talk about his long association with the book. Signed copies of the 70th edition will be available, ahead of the official publication date.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licenced cafe/bar.
