LOCO London Comedy Film Festival 2014 – screenings

We are delighted to host the “Discovery Selection” strand of the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival, showing a different feature and short on each of four successive evenings:

Thursday 23 January:
Life of Brian
(1979) – a 35th anniversary screening of Monty Python’s classic, preceded by a new comic short.

Friday 24 January:
Ninotchka (Ernst Lubitsch, 1939) – Greta Garbo as a stern Russian woman sent to Paris on official business, who finds herself attracted to a man who represents everything she is supposed to detest. 75th anniversary screening.

Saturday 25 January:
The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek (Preston Sturges, 1944) – featuring a small-town girl with a soft spot for soldiers, this screwball comedy stretched the Hays Code to the limit and beyond! 70th anniversary screening.
+ Womble (short)

Sunday 26 January:
Hail the Conquering Hero (Preston Sturges, 1944) – a satire on patriotism and hero worship in America during World War II, acclaimed by many critics as Sturges’s best film; “like a wonderful piece of clockwork” (Terry Jones). 70th anniversary screening.
