Greg Chapman in Condensed Histories: Silent Movie Live – APOLOGIES, CANCELLED DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL

Thu 16 Oct 2014 @ 19:30 · Events

Greg Chapman100 years ago, in 1914, Charlie Chaplin first brought to the screen his most famous role of ‘The Little Tramp’, a character who would go on to be a big inspiration to physical comedy performer Greg Chapman. In his new show Greg pays homage to Chaplin and his heroes from the days of silent cinema as he creates a ‘live silent movie’ filled with fun, comedy, variety skills and moving moments.

Where Chaplin had his ‘Little Tramp’, Greg has his ‘Juggler’. The show follows a ‘rags to riches’ story of a young street performer performing in the hopes of a few pennies in his hat, who rises to the dizzy heights of fame. Along the way he finds that life isn’t always easy, as he comes face to face with both unrequited love and with death, but that above all, laughter is the best medicine.

All this combined with a talk on Chaplin’s own ‘rags to riches’ story and silent movies make this an evening to shout about!

Doors open at 19.00 for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licenced cafe/bar.
