Screening: Suffering in Silence

Sun 25 Nov 2012 @ 19:30 · Events

Suffering In Silence is a controversial LGBT short film written by Ciarra Nevitt & Anthony James, inspired by DV8’s production To Be Straight With You. Set in South London, the story follows a lesbian couple, Taylor and Lilly (Ciarra Nevitt & Alexandra Bartholomew), and two gay men, Calvin and Gray (Taye Armani & Leo Eaglewood), on a journey of self discovery, love, lies and secrets, while under pressure from both society’s judgement and their parents’ plans for their future.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with key cast members about their experience of making the film – the cast combined members with little or no previous acting experience with seasoned industry professionals, and provided an amazing experience for mutual learning and support.

In 2013 Suffering In Silence is to be entered into film festivals, and there are proposals for it to be adapted into a touring theatre production that can be taken into schools/colleges and other youth groups.

“If you want to create a change, you don’t go about it by telling others how to think, or by shouting your opinions at people and not listening to their point of view, but through film/theatre you get a chance to tell a story, and the audience gets a chance to see things from everyone’s point of view.” Ciarra Nevitt
