Exploding Cinema presents the Disposable Film Festival

Fri 20 Jul 2012 @ 19:00 · Events

Exploding Cinema is bringing San Francisco’s Disposable Film Festival to London for the fourth year, and is running an open call for your disposable films to show in the same programme:

ipod screen with details of Disposable Film Festival eventAccess to imaging devices is easier than at any time in history. Where people used to struggle to get their hands on the equipment to make a film, now you have to run avoid the stuff. We’re not just talking about mobile phones, we’re talking about FLATBED SCANNERS, WEBCAMS, FLIPCAMS, HELMET-CAMS, CCTV, STILLS CAMERAS*, USB MICROSCOPES, VEHICLE REVERSE CAMERAS, TOYS & IPODS. They’re everywhere. (*NB: Films shot on DSLRs do NOT count as disposable, fer @&% sake!)

Open Call: We’ll put ANY disposable film sent to us that is under 20 min into the programme until it’s full. Closing date 11 July. Submission details are on our website www.explodingcinema.org.

A DISPOSABLE FILM is one made with a device whose filmmaking potential is incidental to its purpose as a product, or that is designed for a single use, or that is otherwise clearly disposable, as when someone destroyed a 16mm loop with solvents while projecting it for us. Go for broke and make our day!

Doors open at 18.00 for a 19.00 start, and the event is expected to end at 23.00. Refreshments will be available.
